Death Notice of Jack Gray

John Milton "Jack" Gray passed away at The Village Senior's Community in Hanover on April 29th, 2015 from Alzheimer's disease. Jack was born on September 25, 1922 in Kenilworth and lived his married life in Durham. He leaves behind his much loved wife Yvonne who loved him more than words can say. He loved and was loved by his three children, Marilyn (Brian) Ross, Bob (Deb Schmidt) Gray and Paul (Nancy Sorbie) Gray. Fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Andrea (Bryan) Rowe, Amy (Drew) De Veas, Joanna (Jamie) Rushton, Andrew (Juliette) Gray, Matthew Gray, Dan (Amanda) Gray and Laura (Evan) Low, and his five great-grandchildren, Steven Rowe, David Rowe, Samuel Rushton, Chloe Low and Paige Gray. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Orchard, Marjorie Crane, Marlene Pryde, Shirley Seiler and predeceased by his sister Jean Weber and his parents Arthur and Mae Lou Gray. Also sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Arlene (Sam) Inglis, Marilyn (Tom Roscoe) Preston and his brother-in-law Aubrey Brown and their families. Jack ran a successful grocery business in Durham and retired in 1971. Jack never really retired. He was always a helping hand in both Durham and the retirement community in Florida. Jack enjoyed many sports, but especially tennis and curling. He also enjoyed music and sang barbershop for many years.

A celebration of Jack's life will be held at Knox United Church, Durham on Sunday, May 3rd at 1 p.m.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society, Knox United Church Memorial Fund or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
