Death Notice of Donelda Hastie

Margery Donelda Hastie (nee Hopkins) passed away peacefully at Rockwood Terrace on Friday, April 6, 2018, at the age of 90. Beloved Wife of the late Robert Hastie. Loving Mother of Carman and Ruth Hastie, Brian and Linda Hastie, Ken and Debra Hastie and Karen and Steve Kraus, all of West Grey. Proud Gran of Alan (Jody), Evan (Heather), Sara (Adam), Melissa (Dave), Scott (Jillian), Robert (Leslie), Krista (Sandy), David, Megan (Adrian), Devin (Shae) and Mitchell (Kayla) and proud Great Gran of Alyssa, Gavin, Bailey, Emily, Addison, Marshall, Maddyn and Brooklyn. Survived by Sisters Mae McLean, Isabel Edge, Noreen (Mel) Barfoot and Brother Oren (Deanna) Hopkins, Sister-in-Law Marlene Hopkins and Brother-in-Law Gerald Hastie. Predeceased Parents Spence and Margaret Hopkins, Brothers Carman, J.D (the late Phyllis) and Robert Hopkins, Brother-in-Law Murray (the late Marion) Hastie, John McLean and Dan Edge and Sister-in-Law Marjory Hastie.
Donelda was born on March 13, 1928 and spent her entire life in Bentinck. She was raised at Mulock and after marrying Bob operated a dairy farm on the 8th Concession which remains in the family. Family was everything to her and she played an active role in raising and caring for many members of the family. She was a life-long member of the Centreville Women's Institute, Crawford United Church and the United Church Women. Donelda was an avid quilter and gardener, an amazing cook, a dedicated Blue Jays fan and she enjoyed other hobbies such as knitting, crocheting, sewing and a good game of cards.

A service celebrating Donelda's life will be held at Knox United Church, Durham on Tuesday, April 10th at 10:30 a.m. Spring interment at Durham Cemetery.
