Death Notice of Murray McDonald

Murray Phillip McKinnon McDonald, of Durham, passed away at London Health Sciences Centre – University Hospital on Monday, February 5th, 2024. Beloved husband of Filomena McDonald.  Loving father of Carrie Francis (Randy), Terrance McDonald (Shauna) and Brittany Reaburn. Cherished grandfather of Matthew Francis, Phillip McDonald, Natalie McDonald, Dustin Francis and Wyatt McDonald. Dear brother of Gary McDonald (Donna), and Howard McDonald (Colleen). Godfather to Connor Barker.

In remembrance of Murray McDonald, we celebrate his passion for flying, encompassing both fixed-wing and helicopters.

Murray’s passion was extended through Saugeen Helicopters and was known for fire rescue and MNR work.

Murray’s flying career took him across Northern Ontario, as well as in Western and Eastern Canada. 

Murray actively supported the Saugeen Municipal Airport and aspiring student pilots.

Professionally, Murray was acclaimed for his multifaceted talents and skills, including building, fabrication, woodworking, crafting intricate and innovative construction designs. 

He commenced his construction career alongside his father, contributing to various projects throughout Grey and Bruce Counties, encompassing roadwork, landscaping, custom ponds, and street construction.

Murray cherished spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. He was described as a loving, serene, and patient husband who found enjoyment in peaceful moments by the pond.  In addition to family, Murray will be greatly missed by his family pets, Sheba, Smores and Whiskey.

He was a hero to many, a dedicated provider, a loving husband and father, and a silent yet steadfast helping hand. He was fearless to challenges and loved life.

Murray McDonald was a proud man with a tremendous legacy, who will be sadly missed.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Saturday, February 10th from 5 - 9 p.m. A celebration of Murray’s life will be held at a later date. 

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations would be greatly appreciated by the family to Hope Air and/or the Durham Food Bank.
