Death Notice of Karen Morrison
Karen Maxine Morrison (nee Connor), formerly of Rockwood, Milton and Durham, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Brantford General Hospital on Friday, November 3rd, 2023, in her 83rd year. Loving and devoted wife of the late Raymond Morrison. Loving mother of Kevin Morrison and his wife Lisa, and Duane Morrison and his wife Heather. Proud grandmother of Connor, Beka, Olivia, and Andrew. Dear sister of Royden and Betty-Ann Connor. Dear sister-in-law of Inez Pratt, Jean Bovingdon, Velma Morrison, and Isobel Morrison.
Karen was born in Durham, Ontario and between her upbringing in her childhood home on Garafraxa Street and summers at the Meaford cottage, impressions were created that lasted a lifetime. She graduated from a Toronto business college in the late 1950's and returned to Durham to marry Raymond, who became her life partner for over 60 years.
Karen took a break from the work world to be a full time Mom to Kevin and Duane until she resumed her career as an office administrator for a physician practice in Milton. Social and recreation time was filled with attending dances, kids sport activities, summer camping trips and events with longtime friends she first met on a trip to Nashville.
Karen transitioned to her retirement years through annual winter trips to Myrtle Beach where her circle of friends continued to expand, time with Raymond at their trailer in Meaford and enthusiastically embracing her role as Nana to her four grandchildren. Dogs were an integral part of her life especially in retirement and she will be sorely missed by Daschund #5, Buddy.
Karen's talents and pursuits were numerous ranging from hosting and cooking bountiful holiday and summer BBQ meals for family, to earning a Ph.D. in clothes shopping, to meticulously maintaining their homes in Milton and Rockwood. Karen will be forever remembered by friends and family for her pleasant and unassuming nature and a warm and welcoming smile.
A memorial service celebrating Karen's life will be held at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Saturday, November 11th at 1 p.m., with visitation prior to the service from 12 – 12:45 p.m. Private interment at Durham Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
