Death Notice of Butch Campbell

Robert Donald Edward Campbell, of Durham, passed away suddenly at the age of 75 on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in Colca Valley, Peru. He was born December 11, 1948, in Durham, Ontario, to Donald and Marguerite Campbell. Butch was a hard-working individual and had a passion for the outdoors and truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures and passions; hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and scratching tickets. His adventures included seeing North America on his motorcycle, back country camping and telling pretty cool stories of his adventures with family and friends which he loved dearly. He loved the word “Big” and would often use this word to describe his adventures. Butch had an uncanny ability to connect with people from his hometown and around the world. His love for family and friends was very obvious and can not be replaced, he will be deeply missed. Butch was a truck driver for Campbell’s Transport, Steinman’s Transport and he finished his career at Durham Furniture Inc. as a loader.

Loving husband and adventure companion of Marilyn (nee Marshall) for 53 years. Loving father of Lorianne Campbell, and Mark Campbell and his wife Christina. Proud grandfather of Sky, Ethan, Blue, Trevor, Onyx, and Cheyenne. Butch will be missed by his siblings: Elizabeth Huss, Dianne and John McDowell, Dan and Deb Campbell, Bill Campbell; and by his in-laws Stanley Marshall, Stella and Brian Vautour, Suzanne and Craig Vollett, Brenda and Dennis Brown, and Donald and Heather Marshall; and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son-in-law Steve Berfelz, and his brother-in-law Dennis Huss.

A come and go celebration of Butch’s life will be held at the Durham Legion, 271 Bruce Street North, Durham on Sunday, February 16th, 2025 from 1 – 4 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Bruce Trail Conservancy or the Durham Food Bank would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
