Patrick Dion

It is with profound sadness that we lost our beloved Patrick Eugene Joseph Dion of Durham and formerly of Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario on Monday August 4, 2025 at the age of 42. 

Patrick will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Carole Dion (born Hubbard); his father, Rejean Dion; and his sisters, Chantal Dion, Isabelle Dion, Véronique Dion, his half-brother, Mark Maltais, and his sister-in-law, Liliana.

He also leaves to mourn his cherished nieces and nephews: Tristan Johnson, Renée-Anne Pelchat, Ethan Pelchat, Emilie and Claire Côté, Aidan Dore, Logan Dore, Amanda Maltais, and many other relatives and friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Patrick worked as a stationary engineer at Durham Furniture for over 18 years, where he will be missed by his colleagues.  He was known as a thoughtful person, always ready to lend a helping hand. He would work night shifts to permit those with children to have more family time. His neighbours in Durham called him the Gentle Giant, while even 9 hours away back home l, he remained known as the Friendly Giant.  He will be deeply missed by the many lives he touched in a positive way.   He made an impression on even those he met briefly. 

To many, he was a quiet, steady, and truly good man with a wonderfully understated sense of humour. He had a calming  Zen presence that brought peace to those fortunate to know him. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11 am at Sainte-Gertrude Catholic Church in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and to celebrate Patrick's life.
