Christa Jaekel

Christa Else Jaekel, of Durham, passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Chesley on Friday, October 24th, 2025 in her 89th year. Beloved wife for 65 years of the late Horst Jaekel. Loving mother of Esther and her husband Steve Torry, and Kevin Jaekel and his wife Veronica. Cherished grandmother of Adam Torry, Bryce Jaekel and his wife Erica, and Brandon Jaekel and his friend Hailey. Dear sister of Anita and the late Elwin Eckhardt. and sister-in-law of Helga Schnute. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews who loved Aunt Christa, and by her four-legged companion, Ellie. Predeceased by her parents Oskar and Anna Schuett, and her brother Alfred Schuett.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1st at 11 a.m., with visitation prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. Interment at Durham Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter would be appreciated by the family.
