Death Notice of Ian Hall
In loving memory.
Ian ‘Sammy’ Hall passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2025. Pre-deceased by his parents Charlie and Nan, and brother Gary. Survived by wife Tracey, daughter Samantha (Trevor), daughter Kaitlyn (Daniel), granddaughter Mila, brother Bruce (Linda), sister Nanette (Mike), and many nieces and nephews.
While Sammy is gone too soon, he left us all with countless memories.
Sammy and his wife Tracey, together over 40 years, built their life together raising two wonderful daughters and surrounding themselves with family and friends. He was deeply devoted to his mom spending time with her on cruises and trips to Scotland. Their love was deep and important, and was most certainly one of the great joys of their lives.
Sammy held a special bond with Tracey’s brother, Perry Bozec. They shared a mutual love of cars and guitars, and through him he was introduced to Tracey. And, of course, he had a bond for the ages with his dog Storm, reflected by the photo of her on his phone lock screen, that remains to this day.
Sammy’s love for the joys of life went beyond cars and guitars. He had a deep love of music. Ranging from good old rock and roll to jazz fusion, and a begrudging respect for country – with his playlist ranging from Jimmy Buffet to Phish. He would often say “slide guitar is like vanilla, it goes with everything”. A great athlete early in life – his booming slap-shot will never be forgotten. His love of hockey was legendary, and he was always up for a knock ‘em down, drag‘em out discussion on the state of the game these days.
Sammy would tell you that he won the lottery with his circle of friends, but it is them who were the real winners. He had an amazing ability to just love people - laughing, crying, singing, talking, just being with his friends. He was open to sharing his joy with his classic shouting of “this is the best day of my life” for no particular reason other than in his mind and heart, it was.
And in the end, Sammy took us all on his journey whether we liked it or not. With grace, kindness, and courage he taught us about life, death, friendship and commitment.
He will be missed.
