Julie Hertel

Julia “Julie” Terese Hertel (nee Kuranyi), of RR#3 Hanover, passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025 in her 88th year. Beloved wife of Don Reay. Loving mother of Michael Hertel and his wife Tracey, and Ronald Hertel and his wife Gwen. Cherished grandmother of Emily and Grayham, Jared and Tyya, and Aaron. Fondly remembered by Heather and Mike Zanussi, and Judy and Carl Pastway and their families. Dear sister of Betty Rodgers, Stephen and Lorraine Kuranyi, Rose and Nick Lawrence, Anne and Dave Harkes, and Michael Kuranyi and Cheryl. Sister-in-law of Joyce Kuranyi, and Don McDonald. Predeceased by an infant son, her sister Catherine McDonald, her brothers Joseph and the late Erna Kuranyi, George Kuranyi, and her brother-in-law James Rodgers.

Visitation will be held at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Friday, November 7th from 3 – 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 a.m., with visitation prior to the service from 10 – 10:45 a.m. Interment at Durham Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Canadian Cancer Society or St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s CWL would be appreciated.
