Death Notice of Anne O'Brecht
Marilyn Anne O'Brecht (nee McMillan), of Burlington, passed away at the Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington with her daughter by her side on Friday, December 26th, 2025 in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Brian O'Brecht. Loving mother of Kelly Anne O'Brecht and cherished grandmother of Kyle Edward O'Brecht. Anne is also survived by her sisters-in-law Margaret McMillan (nee Hopkins), Pat McMillan, and Heather O'Brecht and husband John Sinnott. Anne is predeceased by her siblings Roy McMillan, Jean Tattersall “Baldwin” (nee McMillan), Carl McMillan, and Robert McMillan and his late wife Joan Mackenzie, sister-in-law Karen Flannigan Brodhurst (nee O'Brecht), and her dear cousin Kathy Scott (nee Kirkwood).
Anne and Brian were very social people who often had family and friends over for parties while living in the Brampton and Cheltenham areas. Anne's love for music was a big part of her life. Her brother, Roy McMillan, was in a band called The Five Furys. Roy and some of his former band mates often played at Anne and Brian's Parties that created many wonderful memories.
After Brian passed away, Anne lived in Collingwood for a few years and continued the tradition of entertaining family and friends.
Anne later relocated to the Brockville area where she became involved in many social activities such as yoga, mahjong, Church Socials and she often saw and visited family members that included her Aunt Jean Kerr, Jean's son, Gordon and his wife Marilyn, and Jean’s daughter, Debra Kerr and her partner Greg Butzow.
Anne moved to the Burlington area for the last few years of her life and she continued to drive and remain active into her late 70's.
Anne was a successful entrepreneur and with her business partner they owned Professional Plant Care, based in Brampton and serviced the G.T.A.
Anne was often humorous, charismatic, and was an outgoing person who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Anne had several family members and friends over the years that she and Brian spent time with that they created many good memories that Anne cherished.
Cremation has taken place. A come and go time of remembrance will be held at the Durham Legion, 271 Bruce Street North, Durham on Sunday, April 12th, 2026 from 2 - 5 p.m. Please drop in to share memories or just remember Anne O'Brecht for the wonderful person she was. Anne’s cremated remains will be interred with her husband at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Durham.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
