Fern Nutbrown

Josee Fernanda “Fern” Nutbrown (née Gawley), of Durham, passed away at the Hanover & District Hospital on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Wayne Nutbrown. Loving mother of Robyn Elliott, and Regan and her husband Todd White. Cherished Nanny of Aydin and partner Neive, Ethan and partner Emma, Jordin, Nicholas and wife Sara, Alycia and husband Charlie, and Joshua. Adored Great Nanny of Isabella, Vincent, Sammy, and Milo. Dear sister of Shirley and husband Kent Nutbrown, Lorna King and partner Rick Bonner, and Christopher Gawley and wife Carla Jackson. Predeceased by her son Ryan Nutbrown, and her siblings Ronny, Billy, and Pam Gawley. 

As per Fern’s wishes there will be no public visitation or service, private family arrangements will take place. 

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
