Death Notice of Jess Harmon
Jess Harmon, age 85, passed away peacefully at Rucki Hospice Care Center in Zephyrhills, FL on Friday, May 29, 2026. Born in a small Northern Ontario community near Atikokan, Jess loved the lake and learned to fish at his father Jesse Sr’s side. He also taught him to dance and by his early teens was a most charming and sought after dance partner. This began a lifelong love of dancing.
An electrician by trade, as he would often introduce himself, Jess prized his IBEW electrical worker brotherhood.
He spent his career building large power plants including nuclear facilities primarily with Ontario Hydro.
During his Durham, Ontario/ Dade City, Florida retirement years he saw most of the Eastern US driving pilot cars to follow Oversized truck loads. He also became quite skilled at wood turning.
Jess loved life, loved people and he loved his Jesus who led him out of darkness into a life of sobriety.
He is predeceased by first wife Kay Noulty and second wife Donna Harmon and granddaughter Presley. He is survived by daughters Colleen and Deborah and granddaughters Perry and Maglyn. He is also survived by Donna’s children Rick and Deb Hiltz, Cheryl and Dave McPhee, Russ and Roma Hiltz, and Cathy and Todd Stoddart and beloved grandchildren Robert, Ashley (Byron), Colton (Paige), Joshua, Zachary and Wade (Chloe). He is loved dearly by his great grandchildren Ilya, Chesley, Audrey, and Jorge.
A graveside service will be held at McNeil Cemetery, Priceville on Saturday, July 4th at 1 p.m. (if needed please bring your own lawn chair). As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Wheels of Hope Program with the Canadian Cancer Society that provides transportation to help people facing cancer would be appreciated (cheques payable to the Canadian Cancer Society in the memo line Wheels of Hope Program).
Arrangements entrusted to McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
