Death Notice of Horst Stiebert
Horst Stiebert, of Hanover and formerly of Ottawa, passed away at The Village, Hanover on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 in his 88th year.
Beloved husband of the late Gudrun Stiebert. Loving father of Seton Stiebert and wife Shannon Watt, and Vita Stiebert and her late husband Brian Clair. Cherished grandfather of Torquil, Mikaela, Liam, Justine, and Corbin. Dear brother of Uwe Stiebert. Predeceased by his loving parents Gustav and Hermine Stiebert.
Horst and Gudrun emigrated from Germany as a young couple to Canada. They married in Vancouver and worked incredibly hard to establish themselves in their new country. Horst went to night school to finish high school and went on to receive his Masters in Economics from Simon Fraser. He was an avid lifetime photographer always documenting and viewing the world through many different lenses. He was intelligent, thoughtful, appreciative and enjoyed good debate and conversation. He cherished the company of his children and extended family and was always curious and supportive of their endeavours. He will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to The University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
