Death Notice of Dave "Dave the Barber" Campbell

David Robert Campbell, of Hanover, passed away at the Hanover & District Hospital on Saturday, July 11th, 2026 in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Susan (nee Taylor). Loving father of Ryan Campbell and his wife Elisha, and Justin Campbell and his wife Stephanie Churchill. Cherished grandfather of Desmond, Eleanor, and Madeline. Dear brother of Kathleen Eckenswiller, and brother-in-law of Cathy and Don Lantz. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his Mum Mildred Campbell; his sisters Shirley Ruetz and her late husband Bill, and Pat Lohwinow and her late husband Tony; his parents-in-law Ross and Joyce Taylor; and his brothers-in-law Bill, Peter and Doug Taylor.

Dave lived in tune with his passions, finding true joy in his love of family & friends, sports, music, and a great deal. A remarkably gifted, self-taught musician, he could play almost any song minutes after hearing it, and he loved to dance - often being the first person up and moving to the music. He was a dedicated supporter of his local hockey and baseball teams, a classic sports car enthusiast who fondly remembered his years driving Corvettes, and a natural negotiator who loved to wheel, deal, and share a laugh over a good price.

For 60 years, Dave the Barber brought smiles, sharp cuts, and great conversation to Hanover and Walkerton. Generations of local clients caught up on town news, shared laughs, and swapped stories from his barber chair. His dedication to his trade and natural connection with people made his shop an unofficial social club.

Cremation will take place. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at The Special Events Centre, 341411 Concession Rd 2 NDR, Hanover, on Saturday, August 22nd from 1 - 4 pm, with memories being shared at 2 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Saugeen Hospice, Alzheimer’s Society, or the Hanover & District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
