Death Notice of Dean Lantz

Walter Dean Lantz, of Elmira and formerly of Durham, passed away at Hospice Waterloo Region on Sunday, July 19th, 2026 in his 70th year. Dear father of Kelsey and her husband Justin Turner. Dean will be missed by his siblings: Don Lantz and his wife Cathy, Debbie and her husband Tracy Detzler, and Geoffrey Bovingdon; and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Herbert Lantz, and Jean and Tom Bovingdon.

Dean played hockey in the Durham Minor Hockey system as a youngster, as a young adult he worked for the Town of Durham and for the Durham Hospital where he volunteered as an ambulance driver during this time, he worked as a surveyor, he was a business owner and enjoyed being a wood worker. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and was a hang glider enthusiast. 

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in The Event Centre at The Foundry 1872, Durham on Sunday, August 9th from 1 – 4 p.m., with memories being shared at 2:30 p.m. 

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Hospice Waterloo Region, South Grey Hunters Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
