Death Notice of Marian Inthof

Marian Inthof, of Hanover, is now safely in the arms of her saviour Jesus. She passed away at the Hanover Care Centre in Hanover on Saturday, September 5th, 2026 in her 72nd year. Marian was the loving mother of Joshua Strucke of Hanover and daughter of Klaas and Marie Inthof of Durham/Hanover. She is continually remembered by her brothers Eric (Lesley) of Calgary, Brian (Kim) of Heidelberg, and John (Jennifer) of North Bay. She was pre-deceased by Josh’s father Tim Strucke.

Marian had significant challenges yet led a life of over-achievement. At the time of her passing, she was known to be the oldest person in Canada with DiGeorge syndrome (the deletion of 30-40 genes in chromosome 22). Despite this genetic condition, she successfully became a registered nursing aide and loved and cared for many long-term care residents in Hanover. She played guitar and was an adept pianist and retained this skill throughout her life. She created 2 children’s books that included her own artwork. She loved to play card games and in her day was good at “Cheat”. She always enjoyed winning at bingo. She had a fondness for her pets and missed her cat Tux, her dog Whisper and her bird Bud when deteriorating health required her to move to Hanover Care Centre. Her family is extremely proud of her accomplishments. The family greatly appreciates the staff at the Hanover Care Centre for their loving care these past years.

Marian’s faith was also very important to her. As a teenager, she went on mission trip to Brazil and then attended Bible School. Through much of her life she used her music skills in the ministry of worship.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Marian’s life will be held at The Village Seniors Community Hanover, 101 10th Street Hanover, Durham on Saturday, November 14th at 2 p.m. Private interment to follow at a later date at the Durham Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Community Living Hanover. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
