 Peacefully, with her best friend and granddaughter Tricia by her side, Rita, of Durham,  passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Francis. Loving mother of Margaret(Don) MacNeill of Priceville, David Beverly(Sandra) of Oakville, Kay of Allan Park and the late Christina(late Nick) Wendling and the late John. She will be in the heart of her beloveth friend Steve.  Loved and remembered by her grandchildren Duncan and John Glen MacNeill, Dave(Lori) Wendling, Katie(Parker) Wendling Murakami, Dr. Lisa Wendling, Kathleen, Nicole(Kyle Ruetz), Linda, Melissa, Paul(Joanna) Black, Andrea(Angelo) DiMichele, Stephanie(Kris) Cherry and 13 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Vernon(Elva) Brown. Rita is predeceased by her siblings Elmer(Verna) Brown, Stan(Audrey) Brown, John(Marion) Brown, Roberta(Geroge) Scherman and Hattie(John) Braun. She will be sadly missed by her special nephew Murray and many more nieces and nephews. Rita was known for her sense of humour, determination, kind soul, tough exterior when need be, love of chatting, shopping; most of all her love and devotion to family and pie. Rita had many careers in her life from care giving, nursing, factory in which she  made many lifelong friends along the way‎. She spent her retirement years doting on grandchildren, shopping and traveling. The family would like you to join them to share memories at the Fawcett-McEachern Funeral Home, 124 Garafraxa Street, Durham on Sunday, January 31 from 2:00–4:00 & 7:00-9:00pm. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday from St. Peter Catholic Church, Durham at 10am. Spring interment Glenelg Cemetery.
