Dell MacGillivray

Laura Dell MacGillivray (nee Chapman), passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Durham on Saturday, July 30th, 2022 in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Don James MacGillivray who passed away in 1998. Loving mother of Kevin and his friend Kathleen, and Paul and his wife Yvonne. Cherished grandmother of Justin, Dylan and Morgan, Dawn and Tyler, Erin, Avery and Madison, and great-grandmother of Adelyn and Olivia. Also survived by her brother-in-law Alan MacGillivray. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Lawrence Chapman and Jessie Chapman-Mitchell, her step-father Clifford Mitchell, her daughter-in-law Dianne, her brother Bert and his late wife Dorothy, her brothers-in-law Angus and his late wife Eileen, Ken and his late wife Thelma, and her sister-in-law Corinne MacGillivray. Dell was a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society for 35 years and she was very active in the town of Durham; she was a former member the Durham Curling Club, the Durham Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Durham Hospital Auxiliary and she was still involved with the Senior Citizen Club, the Red Hat Society and was a member of Knox United Church.

A celebration of Dell’s life will be held at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 3^rd at 12 p.m., with visitation prior to the service from 11 – 11:45 a.m.  If you wish to attend the service, we encourage you to confirm your attendance by visiting the death notice on the Funeral Home website (www.mccullochwatsonfuneralhome.ca) and click “make a reservation” or call the Funeral Home at 519-369-3837.  Interment at Durham Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Chapman House (cheques payable to Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce) or the Durham Food Bank.
