Death Notice of Larry Hastie

Lawrence “Larry” Earl Hastie, of Durham, passed away at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Monday, August 1st, 2022 in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Evelyn Hastie (nee Watson). Loving father of Deryk Hastie and his wife Jill, and Devin Hastie and his wife Lisette. Proud grandfather of Brayden, Jack, Max and Levi. Predeceased by his parents Earl and Ethel Hastie, and by his parents-in-law Joe and May Watson. 

Larry graduated from Waterloo Lutheran University and spent 35+ years teaching school at DDCS& JDSS. A proud Durhamite, Larry fanatically volunteered countless hours to Durham Minor Hockey, The Durham 72's, The Curling Club, IOOF Lodge, the Masonic Lodge & The Durham Hospital Foundation. He loved to fish and lived to tell "fish" stories in the local coffee shops of Durham, Sauble and beyond.  

Visitation will be held at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Thursday, August 4th from 5 – 8 p.m., where members of the Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial service at 7:45 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Larry’s life will be held at Knox United Church, Durham on Friday at 11 a.m., with visitation prior to the service from 10:15 – 10:45 a.m.  A recording of the funeral service will be available for viewing on the Funeral Home website on Saturday (www.mccullochwatsonfuneralhome.ca).

Interment at Durham Cemetery. 

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Durham Hospital Foundation or the Durham Masonic Lodge would be appreciated by the family.
