Death Notice of Elisabeth "Pym" Cotterell

In loving memory of Mary Elisabeth Cotterell (nee Hall), who fell asleep in Christ peacefully on September 11th, 2022 at Chapman House, Owen Sound, in her 73rd year. Dearly beloved wife of the late David and dear Mum of Verity Suntz (Joel), Esther, and Bethany, and precious Grandma Pym of Phinehas and Abiyah. Much loved sister of John Hall (Margaret), Michael Hall, and Jo Atkinson (Robert), and special aunty to many nieces and nephews. Missed, and with many happy memories by extended family and friends in England, Canada, U.S.A., and Australia.

Predeceased by her parents James and Mary Hall.

Elisabeth lived her first 34 years in North Yorkshire, England where she grew up on a farm, and had a special love for horses. Fondly known as ‘Pym’ to many, she was a true ‘Yorkshire Lass’ who made friends wherever she went. For many years Elisabeth worked as a Home Economics teacher, where she instilled the love of healthy, organic food in her students. After moving to Canada she opened a Bed & Breakfast providing hospitality to countless guests from all over the world, many of whom became friends. Whether you were a friend or a stranger, you were always welcomed in for a ‘cuppa’ and a bite to eat at ‘Forest Edge’. Elisabeth poured her time, love, and devotion into her three girls, who equally adored her. Elisabeth loved music and was a member of various choirs throughout her life, and she loved to sing praises to God on a Sunday morning at the Christadelphian church. Many described Elisabeth as beautiful in every sense, radiating in kindness, love, and compassion.

Her Faith gave her the Hope of the resurrection and everlasting life when the Lord Jesus returns to establish God’s Kingdom on earth.

To honour Elisabeth’s wishes, a private family interment was held at the Durham Cemetery and a celebration of life service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving will be held at a later date. Special thanks to Dr. Susan Batten, and the team at Chapman House. As expressions of sympathy and in memory of Elisabeth, donations can be made either to Agape in Action (www.agapeinaction.com) or Chapman House (cheques payable to Grey Bruce Hospice Inc.). Arrangements entrusted to McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
