Death Notice of Robert "Bob" Miller

Robert John Miller, of RR#3 Hanover, passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Chesley on Thursday, October 27th, 2022 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Jean Miller. Dear brother of Annabelle Holley, Leslie Miller and his wife Helen, Judy and her husband Steve Shelley, and Doug Miller and his wife Dianne. Brother-in-law of Linda Miller, and Ann and Bob Hargrave. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ross and Ruth (Wall) Miller, his brother Wallace Miller and his brother-in-law Arthur Holley. 

Bob was born in Bentinck Township on September 16, 1940, and lived in the township all his life.

The oldest of 6 children born to Ross and Ruth (Wall) Miller and grew up on the family farm where he helped with all aspects of farming. After he finished school, he began working with the Logie Bros in Hanover building houses.

When he and Jean got married, he built their home.

He had many interests in life, as a teenager he began plowing at the local plowing match where he later helped organize the matches.

He was also a member of the International Plowmen’s Association and attended their match for many years helping at that level.

Bob liked nature, and he was a life member of the Hanover and District Horticultural Society where he held offices over the years. 

Always very interested in municipal politics and was a councillor for a time. 

He attended Mulock Baptist Church and after it closed he attended Dornoch Presbyterian Church. 

In respect of Bob’s wishes cremation will take place. A private graveside service will be held at Amos Cemetery, Dromore. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation, Chesley Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
