Death Notice of Muriel Fettes

On Saturday, January 28th, 2023, Muriel Olive Fettes (nee Aitken) passed away in her 80th year surrounded by her loving family.  Muriel, born July 19th, 1943, was the daughter of Walter and Olive Aitken, the sibling of Morris, Morley and Marlene Aitken, who have all predeceased her.  She is survived by her husband, Robert Fettes, her three children and their partners, Judy Fettes-Smith and Carl Smith, Paul Fettes and Sabrina Hossain, Denise Jagan and Alan Torres, as well as by her seven grandchildren Jeniece and Jada Smith, and Dominic and Zara Fettes, Akshay, Santosh, and Divya Jagan.  She was a loving, compassionate selfless wife, mother, and a nurturing, playful grandmother.  Outside of her family, she touched the lives of many and inspired others by example.  Her eternal love and strength were felt by her family until her passing.   Forever and dearly, she will be missed by family and the many lives she touched.

Cremation has taken place. 

Please join the family of the late Muriel Fettes for a tribute to honour her life at the Egremont Optimist Community Centre, 392137 Grey Road 109, Holstein, on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 from 2 – 4 p.m.

Please come in casual attire.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Orthopedic Department at St. Michael’s Hospital (please make your cheque payable to St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation and put in the memo line “Orthopedic Department”) would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
