Death Notice of Blanche McCullough

On March 15, 2023, at Rockwood Terrace, Durham, Blanche Noreen McCullough (December 28, 1931 – March 15, 2023) passed away peacefully in her 92nd year.

Beloved daughter of the late Emmerson and Violet (Aitkens) McCullough, predeceased by her brother Clarence ‘Bud’ McCullough and his wife Kathleen ‘Kay’ (Perry), and cherished friend of Carson and Ruth Magee and family.

Blanche was a dedicated and active pillar of the Markdale community. She volunteered regularly and was a familiar face at the Markdale Agriculture Society Fall Fair, welcomed customers with a smile and warm hello as a loyal and long-term employee of Stedman’s V & S, and was a member of Annesley United Church where she taught two generations of tiny tots as a Sunday School teacher.

She was known for her delicious shortbread cookies, Christmas cake and love of crafts. Rivalling for her passion for quilting and crocheting, was her love of sporting events as she could often be found cheering on her favorite hockey or curling team. She touched the lives of many and will be fondly remembered by friends and acquaintances.

Many thanks to the staff of Rockwood Terrace for the kind and compassionate care during her last few years, as well as to Katie Harrison for her help and support.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Representing her spirit of service to the community, memorial contributions can be made in Blanche’s name to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
